How to Type Symbols on Windows
Use Alt codes, Character Map, the emoji panel, touch keyboard, and Office Alt + X Unicode conversion on Windows.
Start with the Fastest Method
For a one-time character, copying is usually fastest. For repeated entry, learn the native shortcut or character picker. The correct method depends on the operating system, active keyboard layout, application, and whether a numeric keypad is available.
When a Shortcut Does Not Work
Confirm that the active keyboard language matches the instructions, Num Lock is enabled when an Alt code requires it, and the destination font supports the character. You can always paste the character from the main symbol finder.
